AgentForce: The Third Wave of AI

AgentForce and Salesforce Foundations enable users of all skill levels to bring AI agents to their Salesforce environments today.

At the Salesforce Dreamforce 2024 conference, CEO Marc Benioff unveiled AgentForce, Salesforce’s groundbreaking platform designed to revolutionize business operations through autonomous AI agents.

Benioff declared AgentForce as the “third wave of AI,” moving beyond copilots to a future where intelligent agents can autonomously manage tasks with unprecedented accuracy and relevance. And Salesforce proved the simplicity of the toolset by allowing the Revely team (and thousands of others in attendance at the conference) to build their own Agent in-platform. I can attest it’s as easy to use as writing a text message to a friend.

Salesforce is betting big on the impact of this innovation. In his keynote, Benioff went as far as to hint at a longterm rebrandings highlighted the transformative potential of AgentForce by stating, “It’s not going to say ‘Welcome to Dreamforce’ – it’s going to be ‘Welcome to Agentforce.’” His confidence in the platform stems from its ability to integrate seamlessly with Salesforce’s ecosystem, empowering companies to scale their workforce with AI-powered agents across service, sales, marketing, and commerce functions. These agents, Benioff explained, “will analyze data, make decisions, and execute tasks,” such as handling customer inquiries, qualifying leads, and personalizing marketing campaigns.

Businesses of all sizes stand to gain significantly from AgentForce’s capabilities. One real-world example involves OpenTable, where AgentForce is already helping to automate customer interactions, allowing human employees to focus on more complex, value-added tasks. Heathrow Airport is another early adopter, using the technology to streamline operations, showcasing how even large-scale enterprises can benefit from automating routine processes to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.

A key feature of AgentForce is its accessibility for all business sizes, offering a no-code platform where users can set up agents in minutes. Benioff emphasized that these AI agents can work 24/7, offering small businesses a chance to compete at a larger scale without the need for extensive resources. Service-oriented businesses, for instance, can deploy agents that autonomously respond to customer queries or manage scheduling, drastically reducing overhead.

The launch of AgentForce positions Salesforce at the forefront of the AI transformation, with Benioff making it clear that AI agents are the future of business operations. The platform is designed to democratize AI by allowing businesses, big or small, to easily create and customize AI agents, thereby improving both internal efficiencies and customer experiences.

To deliver on this promise, before the Dreamforce conference, Salesforce unveiled Salesforce Foundations, a new toolset that allows Salesforce users to explore Agents and evaluate new functionality directly inside the core CRM platform. This groundbreaking toolset is designed to make it easy for businesses of all sizes to get started with AgentForce.

With Salesforce Foundations, users can quickly and easily create and customize AI agents without writing any code. They can also test and iterate on their agents in a safe and controlled environment, without impacting their production data. This makes it easy for businesses to explore the potential of AgentForce and identify use cases.

As Salesforce platform experts and Data Cloud certified professionals, the Revely team is able to immediately support clients with the exploration of this new functionality.
